Recently I checked out Volcano Hot Pot and BBQ. I went to their location in North Wales, PA, but they also have locations in Florida and Texas. This restaurant combines some elements of traditional hot pot with table side bbq.
Check out my Youtube video on Volcano Hot Pot & BBQ
As you can see here the bbq grill is in the middle of the table and each person gets their own individual hot pot with their own broth. I went to hot pot one other time and during that experience, we all shared one pot and it was a more communal activity. This method, I think strays a little from a traditional hot pot experience. However, I think it makes trying hot pot less intimidating for new diners.

I ordered the pork bone broth but there were a variety of different broth options including some vegetarian options. Additionally, this was a buffet style all you can eat restaurant. One of the big pros to this is that you can try a variety of different foods but an obvious con is that sometimes a buffet dining experience isn’t what you are looking for.

However, Volcano Hot Pot took their dining experience to another level. So besides having a standard buffet table, they also have a conveyor belt that you can see below. This conveyor belt went all around the restaurant and you are able to grab whatever you like as it passes by.
Are there vegetarian/vegan options?
There were some vegetarian broths that seemed to also be vegan, but I would confirm before dining if this is a concern for you. There was a surplus of vegetarian and vegan ingredients to put in your hot pot but nothing vegan or vegetarian for the BBQ which I think is expected. I think I tried every version of tofu that they had available and I am here to report that it was all delicious. That being said there are a handful of vegan/ vegetarian ingredients at the buffet table but you will have to walk past some raw animal products in order to get your vegetarian and vegan friendly selections. However, the conveyor belt has only plant-based ingredients, so theoretically, you could avoid the buffet section if you aren’t brave enough.
Final Thoughts
I would totally dine at Volcano Hot Pot & BBQ again. This experience was fun, interesting and an all around good time. I think what this restaurant does best is that it gives people exposure to new foods in a more controlled setting. So if you want to go outside of your comfort zone or push a friend to expand their pallet, then this is the spot for you.
