Recently I checked out Cutlets Sandwich Co. NYC. The location that I went to was located at 213 West 35th Street, New York, NY 10001. Their website refers this to their Midtown West location but since my visit, they have opened their East Village location and they are still in the process of opening their Williamsburg location.

Chicken Parm
The first sandwich that I tried was their chicken parm which came with a chicken cutlet, marinara, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella and I got it on a hero. I grew up eating homemade chicken cutlets so I was trying to check my bias at the door. However, Cutlets Sandwich Co. really hit all of my preferences and I didn’t have to deal with comparing it to my Aunt’s famous cutlets. It was the perfect thickness and it was breaded evenly. Overall, the sandwich was a perfect mix of high-quality ingredients. My only gripe is that we ordered vodka sauce but received marinara. Yet, sometimes mistakes turn into happy accidents and this might have been one of them. Just like chicken cutlets, I am also very picky about my sauce but yet again, I was impressed. It was perfectly seasoned, naturally sweet and it complemented the overall sandwich beautifully.

Breakfast Sandwich
The next sandwich that we ordered was a custom breakfast sandwich. If you didn’t know already, I am a big fan of breakfast sandwiches, so I had to check this out. We ordered eggs, avocado, hashbrowns, cutlets sandwich co. special sauce, and cheddar, on a roll. The star of the show in this sandwich was for sure, the hashbrown. It was greasy and crispy which is the perfect combination for a morning pick me up after a late night. The cheddar wasn’t as melted as I prefer it and the avocado distribution was a little off, but thanks to the special sauce, runny egg, and hashbrown, it still impressed me. If I was to order a breakfast sandwich from Cutlets Sandwich Co. again, I would be sure to ask for the cheese to be melted and ditch the avocado.

Eggplant Sandwich
The last sandwich that we tried was their eggplant sandwich which came with eggplant cutlets, fresh mozzarella, broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers, pesto, and aged balsamic vinegar, on a roll. If you have an appreciation for a good Italian sandwich, this will take you to flavor town. When ordering a deli sandwich, some people might have a preference for a nice turkey club, but for me, I crave broccoli rabe. The eggplant melted in your mouth and the pesto complimented the bitter broccoli rabe, creamy mozzarella, and sweet tomatoes. If you couldn’t tell, I am still dreaming about this sandwich.

Are there vegetarian/vegan options?
So naturally, you would think that a restaurant called Cutlets Sandwich Co. would be a meat-heavy joint. That isn’t entirely wrong, but they surprisingly have some pretty impressive veg options. The star of the show is a plant-based chicken, which is pretty cool because that means you can still make a custom cutlet sandwich that accommodates any dietary restrictions or preferences. Next, they also offer a grilled eggplant option which is vegan and there is even a sandwich on the menu sporting this that is fully vegan. That being said, they do mark their menu with vegan and vegetarian icons to make dining much easier for all dietary needs.
Final Thoughts
So would I eat at Cutlets Sandwich Co. in New York City again? Yes, I totally would. It might not be my go to for a breakfast sandwich in NYC, but it is definitely some of the best eggplant and chicken cutlets that I have found to date. Looking for more details on my experience?
